Our Bespoke Mental Health Awareness courses can be tailored to meet the specific needs of frontline staff, managers (at all levels) or HR professionals at no extra cost.
The aim of these courses is to enable delegates to look after the mental wellbeing and resilience of themselves and others who they come into contact with as part of their work.
Educating people about mental health helps to open up conversations, breaks the stigma and encourages mental health resilience. It also raises awareness of where to go for help, allowing people to recover more quickly.
Well… it’s bespoke, so it includes whatever you want it to!
Generally however, courses will enable you to recognise when someone might be experiencing a mental health issue, and give them the confidence to support and sign post them to the professional help the may need.

Raising awareness and offering practical safety tips
We are very proud of the amazing feedback we have received. Here's how some of our students feel about our courses...
Oakwood's approach to Mental Health training was perfectly pitched for a senior team. The training was engaging, accessible, informative, important and mind-broadening...we came away with much clearer picture of how mental health issues affect people at work. Most of all, the training helped to dispel the stigma and fear of mental health - giving delegates the confidence to recognise some of the symptoms and a desire to do what we can to help people through periods of mental ill-health.
I would be happy to recommend Oakwood Training for professional, tailored and informative training. Terry and his team have delivered a number of training sessions for Barnardo’s nationwide and we will continue to use their service. They delivered bespoke training programmes to meet our needs and the courses were engaging and well received.
Oakwood deliver both Mental Health and Personal Safety courses for us. They really understand the issues our staff have in their roles and were able to adapt to this rather than just a generic off the shelf module. All I can say is how pleased I am with the work they have been doing with us since 2016. The feedback from staff is not just excellent, but how it adds value to what they are doing.
The post course follow up information from Oakwood is brilliant, it really finishes off what I believe was an excellent training day.
Oakwood have proved a great training provider to work with. Terry always strives to understand the organisation and context of the training. His course design and Oakwood's delivery very much hit the mark for us resulting in great initial feedback and subsequently behavioural change. In addition Oakwood are flexible and easy to communicate with.
We have worked with Oakwood Training for the past five years. Terry’s knowledge has been invaluable in designing courses and operational procedures that help us reduce risks to our staff. I consistently hear great comments from staff who have attended courses and I enjoy working with Terry on the different approaches we need for our diverse range of services.

We all have mental health. Mental ill health can strike at any time and can affect people from all walks of life.
1 in 4 British adults will experience a mental health issue at some point in their lives.
Stigma, lack of awareness and general mental health illiteracy means that many people don't know what to do if someone is experiencing mental distress or crisis. This can lead to delays in people seeking help and getting support.
As well as the human cost of mental ill health there is also a financial cost. Mental ill health costs UK employers an estimated £26 billion per year, which equates to an average of over £1,000 per employee. In 2013, 15.2 million days of sickness absence across the UK were caused by stress, anxiety and depression.
By learning to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental ill health, you will increase your confidence in feeling able to approach, assess and assist someone who might be experiencing a mental health issue and encourage them to the support they need to recover. Early intervention can make a huge difference in recovery.
Our courses are delivered in house: We come to you!
All we need is a meeting room large enough to comfortably accomodate 16 people plus 2 trainers, access to electricity, and some tables and chairs for delegates to work on and carry out group activities and discussions.
Due to the sensitive subjects on our courses, we limit numbers to a maximum of 16 delegates.
Yes. And we've made it as convenient as possible!
On successful completion of the course you will receive your certificate electronically for use as evidence of your CPD.
There is no additional cost for certification either.

What you share is entirely up to you. There are 16 people on a course, and given that 1 in 4 adults will have experienced some from of mental ill health, it is almost gauraunteed that you will not be the only one.
And it's important to stress that this course is not a councelling or therapy session.
If you want to let one of the trainers know before the session, your experience will be held in the utmost confidence.
We pride oursleves on creating a safe learning environment. We are all individuals, with a wide variety of experiences that have shaped who we are.
