BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF)

An introductory teaching qualification that replaces PTLLS

This Education and Training course is ideal if you are looking to teach or train adults in your workplace or classroom. We cover everything you need to know so you can gain this Pearson award in Education and Training.

This course is usually offered as part of our Trainer courses if required.

So what's in the course...

This introductory, knowledge-based teaching qualification has no minimum teaching practice requirement. Therefore, it may be undertaken by individuals who are not in a teaching role. However, there is a minimum requirement to take part in micro–teaching.

The units in this qualification were developed by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), the Standards Setting Body (SSB) for teaching and learning. The Level 3 Award in Education and Training provides an introduction to teaching and training.

This qualification is a direct replacement for the Edexcel Level 3/Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (‘PTLLS’ 2011).

Achieving this award will provide sufficient evidence that the learner has acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare, plan, deliver, and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions, in a variety of training or teaching contexts.

Here are the learning objectives:

  • Understand Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in education and training
  • Facilitate learning and development for Individuals
  • Facilitate learning and development for Groups
  • Understand and use inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Understand assessment in education and training
  • Understand the principles and practices of assessment

The BTEC Level 2 Award in Disengagement and Physical Intervention was both informative and fun to do. I found the legislation section really useful, which in turn has given me the confidence to make those all important decisions around using force. The trainers were confident and very experienced and the course paperwork was easy to follow and complete.
