Knife and Edged Weapon Awareness

Learn simple and effective methods to help identify potential risks and avoid becoming a victim

This course has been specifically developed to raise awareness of knife and edged weapons.

It seems that almost every other week another story hits the news about a knife related incident or death, and it is often reported that we live in a “knife culture”.

Would you know what to do if you were ever confronted by a person armed with a knife?

We believe that awareness and avoidance is the most effective form of defence.

So what's in the course...

Our training is delivered by qualified personal safety specialists with years of experience as both front line practitioners and trainers. We understand the reality of knife crime, and know this is not a subject to be glamourised or treated lightly.

Conflict involving knives and edged weapons never happens like it does in the movies or in a controlled environment like a martial arts dojo or training hall.

THIS IS NOT A KNIFE FIGHTING COURSE

The heavy focus of this course is to avoid conflict with anyone armed with an edged weapon. Physical skills are only considered as an absolute last resort and are deliberately simple and effective.

All of our courses can be tailored to your specific requirements, at no additional cost, and here are some of our course objectives:

  • Dispel the myths and raise awareness of the real life dangers of knives and edged weapons
  • The law relating to knives and edged weapon offences (incl schools)
  • How to identify risk in everyday situation and what to do about them
  • How an understanding of Verbal and Non-Verbal communication can keep us safer
  • What is "Reasonable force" and the law around self defence?
  • Diffusion and De-escalation techniques
  • Simple but effective Disengagement techniques

I was impressed from the onset. Terry took the time to come and find out our requirements, was clear in what would be delivered meeting the needs of the staff. The training itself was excellent and I would highly recommend it. Trainers are very experienced, knowledgeable and personable
